August 22nd was Lily’s 11th birthday!
I can’t believe this cute little girl is now a wonderful young lady!
A few days before her birthday, we gave her her present.
She’d been asking for nothing but a mermaid tail, so we got her some flippers and I bought some spandex material that Tom’s mom sewed into a mermaid tail! Since Nana and Grandpa were going to be gone on her birthday, we gave it to her early.
She was so excited and despite the cooler weather, still found ways to use it!
Lily also got some money and treats from her aunt & uncle and some money and a card from her great grandparents, so she used it to get a new zebra pattern comforter for her bedroom. Thanks guys!
The day before her birthday, we went on a date. We went to Panda Express for lunch, then to the hair salon to get Lily a cute new hair cut for school.
The next day was her birthday. I spent way too much time making this measly decoration. That’s not one of my areas of expertise.
That night her friends, Sandra and Sammy came over. We had pizza and cupcakes and ice cream.
Lily opened her presents from her friends and siblings.
Sophie gave her a pack of gum.
Cedric gave her a new skirt.
Sammy gave her a mermaid Barbie and some other fun things.
Sandra made her some bracelets.
and Jeff gave her a Beta fish and tank!
The mermaid tail, skirt, fish and gum were all partly from mom and dad too.
She was so excited about the fish and named him Poseidon.
I had to skip out on her party early because of my friends birthday get-together the same night. The kids had fun making glow balloons and jumping on the tramp and then watched Muppets Most Wanted. Sandra stayed until 9pm, and Sammy slept over.
They ate leftover popcorn for breakfast.
That afternoon Grandpa Kent and Grandma Suzy took Lily on her birthday date. They went to Jimmy John’s for lunch and Lily picked out this cute kangaroo for her present.
That night, we went as a family to Golden Corral. My kids favorite restaurant.
Since it wasn’t a friends party year (the sleepover/late-night was spontaneous), Lily got to pick what she wanted to do for her birthday instead. She picked motor paragliding with her Uncle Dell (she has still to do this when he gets back in town) and horseback riding.
The Young Women were going horseback riding that following week anyway, so I brought Lily along too. Although it wasn’t quite what she expected (it was a short ride due to weather and she wanted to gallop, but couldn’t), it was still fun and she’s begging to take lessons now! (save your money, Lily!)
