Gratitude challenge Day 7
Friday Field Trip and other stuff
Because Sophie (and Adair) love to wear blankets as super hero capes, Grandma Suzy made both girls their own capes!
Nana also made something for Sophie, a dress! She is so lucky to have such amazing grandmas!
Last Friday the kids didn’t have school. We had gotten a coupon in the mail for Discovery Gateway (the children’s museum), so I decided to do a field trip with the kids. They got their chores done that morning very cheerfully. We hadn’t done something like this in quite a while and they were excited. I was a little nervous taking on such a big day by myself, but for the most part the kids were very good and I realized they are getting easier the older they get.
We tried to do a selfie, but it didn’t turn out so good. So I just took a picture of the kids while we waited for the Trax Train.
The kids loved riding on Trax! The boys wanted to stand up and hold the poles and the girls were content to sit and look out the window. Sophie thought it was so fun!
We met up with Tom at City Creek and went to lunch at the food court. Tom had driven the van into work, so we were just going to stay downtown until he was done and ride home together.
We then rode Trax over to The Gateway, said ‘good-bye’ to Tom as he went back to work and the kids and I went to the museum.
Funny story about this picture. Sophie was on the other side and I was trying to take the picture from the other direction. I kept telling Cedric and Sophie to look, but Sophie wouldn’t. So Cedric put his hand on her head to turn her toward me. That’s when we both realized it wasn’t Sophie at all, but another blonde little girl (the one standing in the background of this picture). We found the real Sophie and got a much better picture.
The museum was not crowded at all, and a lot of the time we had stuff all to ourselves (much better than in the summer). The kids were very good, had fun doing something different, using their imaginations, getting away from the electronics, making new friends and playing well together. It was well worth the money and effort to go! It gets me excited to do more fun adventures with my kids (and without a nap to work around, diaper bags or strollers to deal with).
The next day was the annual reunion luncheon for Tom’s grandma’s birthday (she died 11 years ago, but we still get together and have lunch with all the girls around her birthday). Lily and Sophie had fun going on a little lunch date with me. It was fun for all of us that went.
