Compliments from Kids

Last Saturday was my birthday, the big 3 0. While Lily was brushing my hair for me (I love when she brushes my hair)she said "mom, I'm glad you're 30 because you are now so much smarter, but I'm sad you're 30 because now you're so old!" She also made me a card that said "Mom, I love you better than Dad". She said she use to love dad better, but now loves me better. I told her she could love us both the same. I love the honesty of children.

Little Life Snippets

Cedric can now clap his hands, shake his head no, blow kisses, show his tongue when asked, hide his eyes for peekaboo and take several steps at a time.

Cedric, who was once the baby who ate everything and seemed to have a bottomless stomach has now decided he doesn't like to eat anything. It seems like whatever he or I put in his mouth comes right back out again. Once in a while he'll spit something out and then think "wait, that tasted good" and put it back in, but even stuff he used to eat has become taboo.

The other night I was checking on the kids on my way to bed. When I rolled Lily over to tuck her in better she started marching with her arms and swinging her arms while saying "one, two, three, four. One, two, three, four". Apparently she is practicing some sort of dance in her sleep.

Lily wanted to hang some Halloween bats in her room she made for school. When I asked if the bats would scare her if they were in there she responded "no, because I know bats aren't real".

Today I asked my preschool class how old they thought I would be on my birthday this weekend. Some of the guesses were 100, 44, 16, 1.

Whenever Jefferson does something he's not supposed to he argues with "but that's what mean kids do".

The other day Jeff and I were playing candy Land. Since there are four players he said one was him, one was Dad, one was Mom and one was Lily. When I asked where Cedric was he said "he died, that guy killed him (pointing to Lord Licorice)". Should I be worried?

Relaxing in Torrey

Last weekend I went with my cousin, Alana down to Torrey, Utah (it's right next to Capital Reef). Her parents live down there and it's just gorgeous everywhere you look.
Anyway, Tom was nice to take the kids for me and I was able to have a relaxing, fun weekend just for me. Alana and I had fun exploring Capital Reef, watching movies, and getting me hooked on Facebook.
I also enjoyed getting pampered by Aunt JaNae who cooked us delicious meals using food from her own and neighbors gardens, mmmmmmmm.
However, the best part of the weekend was going horseback riding! My Aunt JaNae has a horse and was able to hook us up with some horses too. I was on Old Oxbow, who was the sweetest horse I'd ever met.
It was so fun to go riding with the beautiful country all around. It was just what I needed. I can't wait to return to Torrey and enjoy the peaceful surroundings again someday. Thanks Aunt JaNae!

Cedric's First Birthday

I can't believe my baby just turned one! Although his birthday was Sunday, we celebrated it Monday night with some family. Of course we gave him his own smash cake, which he loved!

Cedric Jerome was born on a rainy Saturday weighing 7lbs 12oz. It was hard adjusting to a third child, and he was a little fussier as a baby than my other two. However, he was a quick learner at getting around and was happy as long as he could move. Even before he was crawling he could roll or scoot wherever at a very young age.

Now that he is older he is such an easy baby, and so content to just play and play. I'm so grateful Cedric is a part of our family and I don't know what I'd do without him. He's such a sweetheart.

Happy Birthday Cedric!
