February Fun

We had an exceptionally warm February.  Some days were up to the low 60’s!  It’s been fun to get a break from the cold and get out more.  Cedric and Sophie had fun going to the park a couple of times or playing outside with friends.  Cedric’s friends Jacob and Abbey came with us to the park one day.

A few weekends ago Tom went camping with his brothers.  So I decided to do something fun with the kids.  I wanted to do something that would fit with all my kids ages, but was very inexpensive.  Then I remembered how I’d always wanted to check out the sporting goods store, Scheels and I knew that would be the perfect place to go!

The kids loved the huge fish aquarium, the taxidermy animal displays and all the great picture spots.

We met up with Tom’s sister, Maren and her daughter, Charlotte since her husband was also on the camp-out.

The kids had fun doing the the target shooting game, mini golf and Jeff even did some bowling!

But of course the highlight was the ferris wheel!

Because the toddlers were too little to go on it, Maren took them and Jeff (who wanted to go bowling and then pay for his own ferris wheel ride) while Lily, Cedric and I went.  Then Jeff and Maren took a turn while I watched the other kids.

It was nice to have Maren there as another adult to help (although Jeff and Lily were good helpers too).

The kids loved all the bikes and trucks there too.  They didn’t want to leave.

We ended up spending almost four hours at Scheels!  We were all getting quite hungry and then found the place where we could get free fudge samples.  When we walked in I discovered it was a whole restaurant and decided we’d just eat dinner there, since it was already close to 8pm.  Maren and Charlotte left, and the kids and I pigged out on burgers, hotdogs, ice cream and fudge.  It was a super fun night!

Meanwhile, Tom and his brothers, Bryce, Kurtis, Eric and Brother-in-law, Tim loaded up all their camping stuff and headed out to Kamas.

They got to snow shoe into camp, some of them using homemade snow-shoes.  Then they did whatever brothers do camping in the snow.

The next day they made a big breakfast, took down camp and headed home.

As soon as Tom got home it was time to shave the beard!  He unintentionally started growing a beard around Christmas.  I never really liked it.  I think he looks good with a little scruff on his face, but I don’t like the way it feels.  As it got bushier it was smoother, but then the hair was just too much.  So he told me after the camping trip he’d shave it off.

Here’s the before.  I have to admit, he can grow quite the beard!

During.  He left a thick mustache with a trimmed down beard for a picture.

And the after.  Awe much better!

This past weekend we had another fun event.  We met up with our group of friends that originated as Tom’s high school buddies (my good friend, Nisha (the red-head in the front) was Tom’s girlfriend back in high school.  We joke about it now, since we are such good friends).  First we met up at Tucano’s Brazilian Grill for dinner (minus Dustin and Cindy who met up with us later).

Then we headed over to the ESA to see the comedian, Brian Regan perform!  I’ve seen him live once before, but this was Tom’s first time seeing his show.  It was so fun and funny!

I love when I get to do awesome stuff like this with my best friend.
