Thursday, August 22nd, Lily Turned 10 years old!
Last Sunday she got some presents from her aunts and uncles at our monthly family dinner.

For her birthday I decorated her door with 10 balloons and a sign (a balloon popped in the middle of the night and scared her half to death).  Then I made her chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast.

She got to open her present from Mom and Dad early, since Tom was leaving that day to go out of town.  She was so excited to get a Furby!

That night, Natalie and Travis (my new step brother and his wife) took the three youngest so Lily and I could go out to dinner.  We went to Sizzler and it’s Lily’s new favorite restaurant.

Then next day was her party.  We had planned a swimming party, but it was cold and rainy all day.  We moved the party to her Aunt Karyn and Uncle Mike’s house at the last minute.  The rain let up and things turned out great.  She had a big turn-out!

Despite it only being 68* the girls still chose to swim.  They lasted about a half an hour and were freezing but all smiles!

We walked back to Mike &
Karyn’s for pizza.  (Karyn was an amazing help!)

Then we did cupcakes and ice cream and sang “Happy Birthday”.  The girls got carried away with the blue frosting…

The kids had fun running around the back yard and playing on the big swing-set.  Then Lily opened her presents.

On Saturday, her grandparent’s stopped by.  First Tom’s mom and dad.  Nana made Lily a dress out of an old dress that used to be my moms.  She made her some other dresses and skirts too.  Then my dad and Suzy took Lily on her birthday date.  She chose Costa Vida and then bought another furreal dog from Target.  She still loves stuffed animals :)

Double Classic

Last week the kids and I went to Classic Water Park, twice.  They always have awesome coupons at the end of the season, so it’s a good time to go.

Tuesday, we went with my friend, Dawn and her kids, Tyler and Brysen.  Her two kids are the same ages and genders as Lily and Jeff.  We used to be neighbors, but we moved, then they moved all the way to Kamas :(  We miss them a lot and it was fun to see each other again.

Here’s me with the kids and Dawn with the kids.  She was so nice to help me with Sophie so I could take Cedric on the big slides.

Lily and Tyler had fun in the Bubble bounce house.  Unfortunately, it closed early and wasn’t open when we went back.

Here’s Jeff and Lily on the giant bounce slide/cliff.

Unfortunately, I didn’t take many pictures and I didn’t get one with Jeff and Brysen together :(

Sophie LOVED the whale slide and went on it over and over!

IMG_2601 IMG_2602

We went later in the day and stayed for several hours.  It wasn’t crowded at all, which was so nice!

Then on Thursday we went back again!  This time with my friends, Tiffany and Chris and their kids.  We had twelve kids between us all!

 IMG_2659

First we ate.  Cedric was the winner for eating the most slices both days!  He must be growing :)

 IMG_2625

I waited to put Sophie’s suit on until after lunch.  She always has super wet diapers and we’ve started calling her “Droopy Drawers”.  Because she had only her diaper on during lunch, it got really droopy!

IMG_2622 IMG_2623

We had so much fun, and Cedric loves the big slides!  I finally decided to try taking Sophie on the big slides.  If you have a mat, you go really fast, but without a mat, it’s pretty slow.  So I took her on it without a mat.  At first she wasn’t too fond of it, but then kept pointing to them.  So I took her again… and again and again!  She kept saying “lie (slide), whoo-hoo!”  The problem was, Cedric wanted to go on the slides too.  So I got Jeff to take him (Lily had got a slide burn on her leg from the bounce slide and had to use a mat, so I didn’t let her take him).  Then I convinced Cedric to go by himself, and I’d just help him out at the end, and he did!  It was so fun going on the slides with all my kids, but quite the work-out!

Classic is the perfect water park for my kids ages!

We were done at Classic by early afternoon, but not done with the fun yet!  We quickly hurried home, showered and got ready, got sitters for the kids, then Tiffany, Chris and I took off again. This time to get mani/pedi’s (yay for coupons!) and then out to dinner for some ‘girl’ time.  It was a super fun day!

Downtown Field Trip

Last Friday was a fun-filled day.  We left our house around 10:30am and headed downtown.  I went with my friend, Tiffany and her kids (her brother and his girlfriend also came with us).

First we went to the Church History Museum.  I don’t think my kids have been there in a few years, so they enjoyed seeing all the pioneer things, the angel Moroni statue, etc.

IMG_2488 IMG_2490

We ended up in the Children’s room.  They had so many fun things for the kids to do, and all for free!  The kids loved it and didn’t want to leave.  We’ll have to make sure to go back soon.

Then we rode Trax to the Gateway.

 IMG_2512

Tom was on lunch break and since his office is in the Gateway, he stopped by to say “hi”.  The kids were excited to see him.

 IMG_2513 IMG_2516

We played at the Clark Planetarium for a while and ate our packed lunch there.

IMG_2517 IMG_2518 IMG_2522 IMG_2525

Then we put the kids swimming suits on and headed to the fountains.

IMG_2530 IMG_2536IMG_2540

I didn’t think they’d like them, since they usually hate splash pads, but I was wrong!  Cedric loved running through the water and both Jeff and Lily were soaked by the end.

IMG_2533 IMG_2531

Sophie was less interested and since it was well past nap time, she was content to just sit in the stroller with her binky and blanket.

 IMG_2541

Tom stopped by again on his afternoon break.  The building behind him is where he works.

IMG_2546

We did splurge and got a giant snow cone to share.  It was so yummy!

IMG_2548

Sophie FINALLY fell asleep on the walk back to the van.  three of the four kids were soon all sound asleep.

IMG_2549 IMG_2551

We didn’t get home until 5:00pm!  I quickly threw together a salad and we headed over to my Uncle Burt and Aunt Michelle’s house for a barbecue.

The kids already had their swimming suits on from the splash pad, so it was an easy transition into the pool.

 IMG_2555

We enjoyed eating and chatting with family, cousins, etc.

 IMG_2559 IMG_2561

Aunt Michelle made homemade donuts. Mmmm!  Grandpa Kent had fun playing with Sophie on the swing.

 IMG_2564  IMG_2571

And if she didn’t have enough sugar that day, Sophie was thrilled to head home with a giant popsicle.

IMG_2572

That night, Tom had hockey, I was SUPER exhausted from the day and still had a mountain of laundry to fold.  I got the kids to bed, did the laundry, showered and finally climbed in bed around 11:30.  I was in bed reading when I heard a noise and Sophie crying.  I went in to find she had thrown up! (and was all red from the popsicle and snow cone).  I set her on a towel and she threw up again, so I threw her in the tub.  She was so hysterical I’m surprised she didn’t throw up again.  Then I cleaned up the mess in her crib/floor, etc. while she laid on a blanket.  She immediately fell back asleep and was fine the rest of the night and next day!  I think she over did it that day.  Despite the bad ending, it was a super fun day!
