Soldier Hollow & Singing

A few months ago I bought some on-line coupons for tubing at Soldier Hollow.  The kids had last Friday off of school and Tom took a vacation day so we could all go up together.
First, we stopped off at McDonald's for a late breakfast.
Then we dropped Sophie off at my friend, Dawn's house in Kamas while the rest of us went up to Soldier Hollow.
The kids were so excited!
We got there a little late, but the crowds weren't too bad. (You have to call in advance and reserve a sledding time).
The weather was sooooo nice!  Our coats, hats and gloves didn't last long.  The thermometer in our van said it was 50* even up in the canyons!  I even got a little sunburned.
Jeff is excited for his first ride up, and down the hill.
They have a nifty rope tow that you hook your tube too and ride up the hill in.  It was nice to just relax and take in the scenery, or catch up on games with friends on your iPhone as Tom did.  Cedric was so cute riding up on his little tube.
Here's Lily taking the first ride down.
At first, Lily and Jeff were kind of off on their own.  Tom, Cedric and I would hook our tubes together and go down the three of us, but Jeff wanted to walk up the hill.  So Tom went up with him and it ended up just being me and Cedric together and Tom and the older two together.  It was hard work pulling my tube, Cedric's tube (and usually Cedric) from the rope tow to the start or from the finish back to the rope tow.  Even without a coat on, I was sweating.
After our last run, Cedric just played on the baby hill by himself while I sat and watched and waited for the others to finish their last run.
Then we headed back to Kamas.  It was so fun to see my friend, Dawn again and tour her new house.
The kids had fun catching up with their old friends too.
Here's Tyler and Lily.
And Jeff, Cedric and Brysen.
We had so much fun, we lost track of time and tried to hurry home in the early after-work traffic in order for us to get ready for our date that night.  We got to the house later than planned, Tom dropped me off to hurry and shower while he and the kids went to get pizza.  I had to be picking up the sitter by 5:30 and was only running a few minutes behind.  Not bad considering we didn't get home until 5:00!
We met up with my family and headed downtown for our date night.  First, we went to Costa Vida at the Gateway for dinner. I had to leave early so I could be at the Tabernacle, and ready to perform with the choir I'm in by 8:00.  The all women's choir, We Also Sing, directed by Merrilee Webb, is a local choir that I've participated in four times now.  The night was spectacular!  I was so glad my family (and some of Tom's) could be there to hear us.  It was a great way to end our fun, busy day.
