Catch the Vision

Tomorrow is Utah's Birthday. Part of the celebration is the annual Days of '47 parade. When I was young we would get up early and go every year to the parade because my Grandpa was one of the announcers. As a teenager I had even slept over on the streets of downtown several times to help save seats. As Grandpa got older and retired from the announcer position some of my other relatives filled in for a short time. Now it's not a big tradition like it used to be. In fact, I think Lily's only been once and my boys have never been.
This was the first year we went to the Parade Preview Party at the Expo Center. It was fun to see the floats up close in an air conditioned building, and for free! The reason we decided to go this year is because my parents were the chair people for their stakes float. They spent many many hours with many many other volunteers to help build the float. Tom's dad is also involved and helped build the 50's turnabout on the back of the float. He will also be the pacer for the float in the actual parade. They experienced many hardships and miracles in the float-building process, and I'm quite proud of how well it turned out. Good Job Mom & Dad!
