Spring Break - Arches National Park

Saturday, April 15th
Day five of our adventure.
We enjoyed another delicious continental breakfast at our hotel.  Despite the great choices, Cedric chose to have leftover pizza for his breakfast.
The kids loved riding in the glass elevator.  They did this while the grownups packed everything up to leave Cortez and head home.
On the way home, we stopped in at Arches National Park.  We arrived there around lunch time.  But instead of stopping for food, we stopped for hiking and exploration.
I got quite nervous when Jeff and Lily decided to climb to the top of this cliff!
We didn't have a lot of time, and Tom's mom couldn't do any hiking, so we chose a shorter hike to see Delicate Arch from a distance. (See it, above my head?)

The view of the arches were breathtaking, and the view behind was amazing as well.  Here's Lily in front of the view from behind where we'd hike to.
Some people were excited to get their picture taken and were grateful for the chance to be in one of the most gorgeous and famous spots in the world.

some people were not so excited about getting their picture taken and wanted to just hurry home to play Minecraft.
Typical family picture, having someone upset about being in the photo.

Oh wait... someone now won't get out of the picture.
Awe.  We sure love doing fun things with our kids!
We also went and explored Sand Dune Arch.
The kids loved playing in the soft, cool sand.  (Jeff almost got pooped on by a bird flying overhead.  I was so frustrated with his attitude, that I was sad it missed him.  Not really.  Then we would've had an extra mad Jeff with a big mess to clean up.)
Maren and I tried to get a selfie with the arch above us.

Lily had fun climbing on all the amazing rocks.

Sophie and Charlotte loved being buddies.

Next, we stopped at double arch.  This time we left the grumpy boy in the car.
An almost perfect picture, just missing someone.
Maren and the kids.
The kids (and Tom) had fun climbing the rocks up to the arches.
Selfie under the double arch.
Cedric found a cozy spot to relax.

We finished exploring Arches around 4:30 and we still hadn't had lunch! (Thank goodness for our big breakfast).  We had some snacks when we got back in the car to tie us over until dinner.

Jeff was much happier once we got in the car and back on the road.  Sophie enjoyed singing away!
We continued our drive, making brief stops for dinner and such before we arrived home late Saturday night.
Overall it was a very fun adventure!
