We rode on the merry-go-round.
We Shared some ice cream and played in their indoor playground.
As we were leaving, Lily said that it ended up being more fun than if we had gone swimming. The next morning the kids wanted to have a bath with their swimming suits, and then Monday night Tom took Lily and Jeff swimming at the rec. center (I stayed home with Cedric, who was sick).
This past weekend we also tried to do some fun things. Being a three-day-weekend, we decided to go up to our cabin to do some sledding. We also had some of Tom's family with us, Bryce and his kids, Maren and Tim. We had to shuttle in about a mile with Tim's four-wheel-drive jeep. First he dropped off me, Lily, Jeff & Cedric. Cedric had fallen asleep, so I tried to put him down for a much needed nap in the crib upstairs in the cabin. The cabin was cold, so I had him wrapped up pretty good. However, he had woken up so I went upstairs to help him fall back asleep. Lily and Jeff were just playing downstairs in the cabin. I ended up being upstairs a lot longer than I meant to trying to get Cedric back to sleep. Lily and Jeff didn't know where I was. Tom, Tim and the rest of the group were supposed to be back any second, so I didn't worry too much about them. However, they ended up waiting for Bryce and they took much longer than I thought. So Lily and Jeff started getting worried. They thought I had gone back with Tim and they got scared. I could hear Lily hollering for me, but I didn't dare answer back in fear of disturbing Cedric. So Lily and Jeff put their boots back on, and in nothing more than regular clothes, boots and coats, they wandered outside to try to find me. It was very snowy and there wasn't much of a path, so they trudged through the snow to the end of the cabin driveway. As I came downstairs (Cedric finally asleep after about 20 minutes) I couldn't find the kids. I was about to get my boots on when I saw them coming back toward the cabin. When they got there they were both crying. They were totally frightened, they thought I had left them. They were now wet and cold.
I decided to tell them a story while they sat by the heater. This helped calm them down and finally the rest of the group came. We got ready to go sledding. Jeff went out with Tom while I got the rest of my snow stuff on. Lily was still pouting and didn't want to sled. By the time I was ready to sled, Jeff came back in, he was done. Lily then decided to come out. She went down once with Tom and enjoyed it. Then she went down with her cousin, Marcus. They couldn't control the sled by themselves and ended up biffing it in the snow.
Lily started crying again and went back in the cabin, she was done (she kind of reminded me of me at her age). The rest of us went sledding for a few more minutes.
Then Cedric woke up, most of the kids were crying, mostly because they were cold or wet, and we decided to be done. All that work for a very short sledding trip. Oh well, we tried. I thought it was quite an adventure.
Then next day was Valentine's Day. Tom and I did our Valentine's date on Friday. We went and saw Avatar in 3D. He gave me some huge, delicious chocoate dipped strawberries. I gave him some lame chocolate dipped gummy hearts. We each got stuff for the kids too. I gave them each a chocolate sucker heart.
Tom gave Jeff a pinewood derby car (he really wanted one when he saw that Tom and I had one's for a date pinewood derby we are doing this weekend).
He gave Lily a pearl kit. It included a real muscle with a pearl inside, and a necklace with a pearl holder.
Lily loved her pearl.
She kept playing with it, and lost it a couple of times. On Valentine's Day she wore it to church and lost it again. This time, we couldn't ever find it. She was in tears.
Jefferson had fun shaping, painting and decorating his car. Here is the finished look.
Lily discovered her first lose tooth, which she is so excited about. And Cedric ended up at the Instacare on Valentine's Day with an ear infection, that resulted in a bursted ear drum. Although we had many sour adventures, we also had quite a few sweet ones too.
