Lily Turns 14!

On August 22nd our Lily turned 14!

I can't believe how grown up she is now!

She will always be our cute, smiley little girl.

The night before Lily's birthday, she had some friends over to celebrate.

 As much as she didn't want us to sing to her, she was a good sport.

 She had a great time with her friends listening to music, playing games, singing karaoke, and eating lots of food.  They partied late into the night.  

I "gave" her a birthday card while we were at the store shopping for her party supplies earlier that day.

Tuesday was her actual birthday and the kids last day before school started.  Lily enjoyed doing whatever she wanted that day.  She spent a lot of time outside and even worked on a sidewalk chalk drawing.

 That night was pretty crazy with piano lessons and scouts for the boys, but Lily and I managed to sneak away and grab some dinner at Zupas while the rest of the family ate leftover pizza from her party.

Then that night we gave her her presents.  The kids gave her some candy canes and a fruit drink mix. 

 And besides all the clothes, fake nails and other things we'd recently bought for Lily (I told her they were all part of her birthday present), we also got her a piece of plywood, a 2x4 and a cat door.  Or in other words, we gave her permission to get things set up in order to get a cat.  She was excited!

Here are 14 things I love about Lily...

1. She is a beautiful girl both inside and out.

2.  She never complains when asked to do something.

3.  She's a hard worker and likes work.

4.  She loves seminary and continues to grow in her testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

5.  She's a great babysitter and loves to help her younger siblings.

6.  She has a beautiful singing voice and a love for music.

7.  She is smart and works hard in school.

8.  She has overcome challenges and has matured a lot this past year.

9.  She is a good friend and easy to be around.

10.  She is self-disciplined, sets good goals and works towards them.

11.  She is artistic and creative.

12.  She enjoys trying new things.

13.  She loves nature and animals.

14.  She is a peacemaker and wants to do what's right.
