April in a Nutshell

April is always a fun month.
A new haircut for me.
It was so cute, because after I got my haircut Lily said "Mom, you look like a cougar!"  The hair dresser and I kind of laughed as I asked her what she thought a cougar was.  She said "an older lady that tries to look cool".  She was a bit embarrassed when I told her what a cougar really was.
The kids have always wanted to try a real coconut.  I bought a white coconut at the store (which I didn't like as much as a regular one), and the kids were excited.
The coconut milk was not our favorite, but we drained it all into a cup.  Cedric tried drinking right from the coconut.
After we drained the milk, we cracked it open.  The kids didn't like the taste, but I enjoyed it.
Sophie loves having her cousin, Charlotte over.  They come over several times a month to play.  On this particular spring day they set up a booth where they were "selling" rocks, flowers and weeds.
It's a rare sight to see my boys reading.  Cedric enjoys reading, but it's usually too late to do much of it.  Jeff finally found a book series he couldn't put down "Michael Vey".  He loved the books and was the first time he's wanted to read.
One night our kids stayed over at Natalie and Travis' house.  So Tom and I enjoyed a night with no kids.  We went down to Orem and spent the evening with my cousin, Alana and her husband, Gregg.  We stayed up late watching a movie and enjoyed sleeping in a little bit.  Then we went to run errands that morning and get some breakfast.  I thought it was a perfect excuse to try Waffle Love.  It was tasty!
It wouldn't be April in Utah without the roller coaster weather.  Woke up to snow one Sunday morning.
By that night, it was nice enough to do an Easter Egg hunt.  We decided to do the Larsen egg hunt the week before Easter, which made the actual holiday a lot less stressful.

The week leading up to Easter was spring break.  I will do a separate blog post about our adventures.  We got home late the night before Easter Sunday, and since we have 9:00am church and the kids all slept in, we didn't do any Easter stuff until after church.  Here's the kids being kids right before the hunt began.
First they have to find their baskets.
Then they have to find the eggs.

Here's Tom and I being kids.
In April it was Cedric's turn for date night with Mom and Dad.  He picked Laser Tag.
Since we'd bought the Pass of all Passes with Seven Peaks for Christmas, we went to the Seven Peaks Fun Center in Lehi to play laser tag, because with our passes it was free.  This also meant we could ride some rides and play mini golf as well.
Cedric was so grateful and kept giving us hugs saying "thank you, thank you!"
Afterwards, we ended up eating dinner at Taco Bell (he first wanted a buffet, but it would've been over his budget, so he was happy to pick his second choice, which was much cheaper).  Then we got treats at Swig.  We also enjoyed having a very deep discussion about the Plan of Salvation.  This is one of the things I love most about our dates with our kids.  We can talk together and a lot of the time we find out things about our kids we didn't know.

My girls are eight years apart, but they are such good friends.  I love it!
Cedric got to participate in the Rain gutter Regatta for scouts and came in first place!
For a Young Women value project, Lily had to help plan, shop and make dinner for two weeks.  It was really fun to have a helper and she loves to cook, so it was a win for both of us!
Grandma Kay continues to come over one-two times a week.  We celebrated her 89th birthday with her one day.

We still enjoy spending time with our friends, Tiffany, Kenny, Chris and Nick (the CLaW Club) at least once a week.  Tiffany's family just got a new puppy, Lucy.  She loves Tom and just cuddled up on his lap.

Jeff pretty much spent the whole month playing basketball.  He's on two leagues, and our friend, Kenny is his coach.  We had fun going to his games, even though they never won a single game.  Jeff never complained and enjoyed playing way above his level (most of the kids are a year older than him).  One Saturday he even had three games in the same day! He also had practice's three times a week, and loved playing and learning.  He's grown so much in his basketball skills.

Sophie wanted to make chocolate dipped strawberries one night, so I bought some stuff to make them and we had a fun night dipping a whole bunch of things into the chocolate.
April was a good month!
