Cedric’s Birth Day
Infancy
First Birthday
Second Birthday
Third Birthday
Fourth Birthday
Fifth Birthday
Cedric’s fifth birthday was Friday, October 4th, but it was spread out over several days.
First of all, he’d been telling us he wants some more Skylanders for his birthday for months. So a few weeks before his birthday he saw one of them he really wanted. There was only one left in the store and since I had no way of hiding it, I just gave it to him there and said “happy early birthday”.
Then the Sunday before his birthday we had his Aunt Maren, Uncle Tim, their baby Charlotte and his grandparents over for dinner. It was Tim’s birthday that day, so we did a mini party for him and Cedric.
Tom was going to be in St. George for the marathon on Cedric’s real birthday, so he gave him his present that night. Cedric was excited to get more Skylanders!
When it came time to eat cake and ice cream only Sophie was interested. The other kids were downstairs trying out the new Skylander guys. (They eventually came up for dessert :)
On Wednesday, the same group went to Golden Corral. This was Cedric’s choice, but again, wanted to do it before Tom went out of town.
The kids favorite part is the all-you-can-eat cotton candy. They had 3-4 each!
Sophie stuffed her mouth with candy corn and when I told her to smile, they all popped out in her grin.
Friday morning was Cedric’s real birthday. He opened a few presents that morning before Lily and Jeff left for school. Lily and Jeff were so nice to even buy him some presents with their own money. Cedric opened Jeff’s present (Ninja Turtle spinners) that morning along with Maren & Tim’s gift and Nana & Grandpa’s.
That afternoon he opened the present from me and Lily. I gave him Wolverine claws.
And Lily gave him Hot Head, his favorite Skylander! Lily spent a lot of money on that gift, they aren’t cheap, but I am proud of her.
Here they are playing him with the Wii.
That evening we went to Nickle Mania. Honestly, it was a waist of time and money. I was grateful I had a coupon to get us each in for a dollar, but most of the games took two or more nickles.
Sophie’s favorite was this merry-go-round. However, at one point Cedric wanted to get on once the ride had started. I was trying to lift him onto the seat while it was moving and ran right into the coin box! It hurt so bad and I still have a huge purple and black bruise on my hip.
The kid had fun though.
After Nickle Mania, we headed over to the elementary school. The PTA was doing free pizza, popcorn and a movie (Despicable Me) for the whole family! It was nice to have a free birthday party ;)
Cedric and his friend, Jacob. The kids were eating popcorn lying down.
At one point, I looked over at Cedric in line for the popcorn to see him tapping some guy on the belly in line behind him. I was so embarrassed, and although I didn’t get a picture of him in action, this kind of gives you an idea. Cedric has no concept of personal space.
After the movie was over, Sophie and Cedric hit the floor dancing.
The parties weren’t over yet. Since Tom was out of town we had to keep ourselves busy. So on Saturday we met up with my sister, Aimee, three of her kids, my step sister-in-law, Natalie and Suzy while the men were at the Priesthood session of Conference. We went to Cafe Rio for dinner, then to see Despicable Me 2 in the theater. We sang “Happy Birthday” to Cedric in Cafe Rio. Tom’s mom was nice to take Sophie for me since she’s at a hard age for movies.
Then the following Wednesday, Cedric went with Grandpa Kent and Grandma Suzy on his birthday date. They ate at Sonic & Burger King, then searched a couple stores to find some more Skylanders. Cedric was excited with what he got.
This Sunday he will have another mini party with my side of the family at our monthly family dinner. What a lucky boy!
Here are five things I love about Cedric…
1- He is so friendly, cuddly and loves everyone he meets
2- He is very observant, which makes him a smart boy
3- He catches on to new concepts easily, especially when it comes to electronics.
4- He is the loudest singer in the whole primary, and make people smile when he sings.
5- He is sensitive to others needs and is such a sweet boy with his siblings and parents.
Happy Birthday Cedric!
