Thursday, June 20th Tom and I left the kids with their new Grandma Suzy and we headed down to St. George. It was just the two of us as we drove, stopping in Beaver for lunch and some cheese. We made it to my aunt and uncle’s vacation house in St. George by mid afternoon.
It was nice to be just the two of us and it was amazing how much we had to talk about without children interrupting or other distractions.
We got a coupon deal online for a place called Patio Grill. The prices and service were only so-so, but the burgers and onion rings were AMAZING! Afterwards we swung into Swig’s for a cool refreshment.
About 9pm the rest of our group showed up. We stayed up and talked until 2am, then went to bed.
I love my aunt and uncle’s house (and their generosity), but the one complaint I have is the sun blaring through the thin curtains early in the morning. I’m not a morning person anyway, especially on vacation. So when the sun started to interfere with my sleeping in, I just threw a clean sock over my eyes. Tom had his sleeping hat :)
That morning we got up and ready then headed to the temple. It was so nice to not be rushed and just enjoy the wonderful blessings of the temple. We could already tell the day was going to be hot!
Here’s our group, us, Tiffany & Kenny and Chris & Nick
After the temple we came back to the house and had a little barbecue.
We went and saw a movie. We saw “Now You See Me” which was a very good movie! I love going to a good flick. Then we played games until we were hungry enough for dinner.
We went to one of my favorites, Pancho & Leftys for some tasty Mexican.
That night we played some more games, talked, played games, got silly, laughed and talked until 4am!
The next morning we slept in and had a big breakfast!
The guys went golfing in the heat.
While the girls went shopping in the air conditioning. Afterwards we met at Swig’s for a nice cool drink and treats.
To beat the heat we went to the pool. I don’t have a picture to prove it, but I actually jumped all the way into the pool! Something I don’t do too often.
We got pizza from The pizza Factory for dinner and took it back to the house. We ate it while we watched a movie (“Failure to Launch”).
That night we stayed up until 2am again. Sunday we woke up, went to sacrament meeting, came back to the house and cleaned, ate lunch and headed home.
We were all so sad to see the weekend end. It was so fun, relaxing, and carefree.
We came home to find this bunch. Tom’s parents were so nice to watch the kids most of the weekend (Suzy was nice to help out Thursday too). Sophie wouldn’t let me put her down and the loudness, messes and chaos were quickly present and made us longing for another get-away. It’s hard when good things have to end.
Thanks, Tiffany, Kenny, Chris, Nick, Maxine, Bryce, Suzy & Tom for the fun weekend!
