Last weekend was a three day weekend because of MLKJ Day.
Saturday, we had friends over (Tom’s high school group) and we made sushi. Our friend, Angelyn, got a sushi kit as a white elephant gift (from me) and wanted to try it out. I enjoyed watching, but I did not partake (I don’t even eat cooked fish).
Monday we decided to do something fun with the kids. Lily was wanting to go to Build-A-Bear and I though Sophie would have fun too. So I took the two girls and their Christmas money to the mall.
Sophie didn’t know what to think. She picked out her stuffed animal fine, but refused to hold the empty, floppy , unstuffed animal that didn’t look anything like the bear she picked out.
They also have sounds you can put into your bears and she kept playing “That’s What Makes You Beautiful” by One Direction over and over. So I let her put that sound/song in her bear.
When it came time to blow the stuffing into it, she was really nervous!
Once she realized her bear now looked like the stuffed animal she picked out and had the song she loved, she liked it better. She really enjoyed giving it a bath and brushing it’s fur.
Lily was not too excited about getting her picture taken with a stuffed animal at Build-A-Bear, despite the fact that she still LOVES playing with stuffed animals ;)
Lily named her dog “Goldie” and helped Sophie name her bear “Hearty”. She also bought roller skates and a leash for her dog.
It was a fun outing with just me and my girls.
Tom took the boys to half of the Grizzlies hockey game and then to Hollywood Connection (trying to use our Pass of all Passes some more). (You can tell who likes to take the pictures out of Tom and I :) He at least took a couple of pics from the boys’ outing…
It was then a three day work/school week because the kids were off on Friday for the end of the term, which meant another three day weekend!
We had bought a Groupon for tubing at Soldier Hollow a few months back and thought that Friday would be the perfect day to use them. And it was! Tom took the day off and Grandma Suzy watched Sophie for us. We packed sandwiches to eat in the car on the way up and then had two hours of awesome tubing!
It was a gorgeous day and we even took our coats, gloves and hats off at times to cool down.
They will let you hold onto each other’s tubes and go down together, so one point we went down, all five of us linked! I had fun snapping pictures as we went down the run!
At one point Jeff lost his hat riding up the rope tow. Tom went to grab it from the worker, but then his tube started sliding down the hill, under the nets and off into nowhere. Tom went running after it and it was so funny! I wished I’d caught it on camera. He fell and rolled down part of the snow bank, got up and kept running. Here he is hiking back up while the rest of us were busting up laughing.
When our two hours were up, the kids played on the baby hill for a while.
On the way home we saw a bald eagle! And we went into Midway and drove passed the ice castles.
After we got home, we picked up Sophie and headed out to Golden Corral for dinner. It was a fun, family-filled day.
Saturday evening Tom and I went to the temple, then over to our friend, Tiffany & Kenny’s house to play games with them and Chris & Nick. We always have fun with our ward friends (and stay up way too late!)
Today was Sunday. We now have 9-Noon church, so afternoon naps are usually a must in our Sunday routine (especially after staying up late the night before playing games).
Now back to a five day week again. But next weekend is another adventure!
